Mine Ban Convention, 10th Anniversary “Clearing the path for a better future” 18 September 2007, Oslo, Norway | The Mine Ban Convention was adopted in Oslo on 18 September 1997. The Convention was a result of a unique partnership between civil society and states. Ten years later we want to take some time to reflect on what we achieved, the challenges ahead, and how to enhance the security of civilians and communities around the world.
The conference will address the parthership between states and civil society in placing humanitarian issues on the international agenda. It is organised by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Peace Research Institute, Oslo (PRIO) The Conference is co-chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Raymond Johansen and Director Mr. Stein Tønnesson, International Peache Research Institute (PRIO).
